About
Professor Robert Romero is a Gracie Barra First Degree Black Belt under Professor Alberto Crane and Professor Thomas Pless. He has trained with Gracie Barra Santa Fe/Santa Fe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over fifteen years and is a retired Police Captain with the Santa Fe City Police. Robert currently owns GRACIE BARRA Los Alamos, Los Alamos Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, LLC. Where he combines a mix of professional leadership, business strategy, and common strong work ethic to instill the Gracie Barra Philosophies into his program. Robert works with many children, adults and families to help them own their choices, their lives and work to improve their health, wellness and future.
Robert has been an adult skills instructor for more than thirty years ranging in many different areas within the military, law enforcement, public sector learning, and martial arts. His involvement with local youth programs has exceeded thirty years and includes coaching, teaching, mentoring and instructing in athletics, discipline, social, scholastics and martial arts.
Professor Romero has competed in martial arts primarily Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for more than eight years with his most notable tournament appearances being International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation competitions:

Professor Romero was ranked in top 20 in five classes in 2014, three in the top 10, with two of those in the top 5.
Robert is also an accomplished Mixed Martial Arts Coach with four of his fighters earning World Championships. He has helped establish and direct the Pueblo of Pojoaque Athletic Commission with the primary responsibility of sanctioning all Combat Sports within their Jurisdiction. Robert has also worked for the New Mexico Athletics Commission for more than ten years in numerous areas to include, head MMA Officials Trainer, MMA Judge, MMA Time Keeper, MMA Deputy Inspector, MMA Referee, Boxing Judge, Boxing Referee, and Event Coordinator. He is currently the Executive Director of the Pueblo of Pojoaque Athletic Commission and is licensed as a MMA Judge and Referee with the New Mexico Athletic Commission.
Most importantly, Robert provides education, mentoring and tools to help you make your life and health thrive, by teaching you how to own and deal with the challenges of life. Through the courses and instruction he offers many tools, Robert is dedicated to helping grow each students capabilities and getting them to their personal goals no matter where they are at in their life. Robert offers private consultation and instruction, and offers limited private consultation for law enforcement.
Professor Romero lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has established a small but very successful Martial Arts Academy in Los Alamos, New Mexico a neighboring community. He is the father of three very successful children (Matthew a successful business owner father of one, Mariah a recent recipient of a Bachelors of Arts, and Johnathan who currently proudly serves in the United States Marines and father of two).
